It amazes me how the ones leaving the comments are always ripping Molls for being so negative, when they are doing the exact same thing, usually 100x worse. I think it is great that you guys are able to shrug it off, because it honestly makes me cringe.

Wendie - I definitely miss your humor on EB every day! I was a huge fan of yours, and was sad to see you go. Hope life is treating you well these days!

Sasha - It has been awesome seeing you post a little bit the past few days. I can always spot your writing immediately. Keep working on that novel - you really do have fans that will appreciate reading anything that you write :)

Yeah, it’s the nature of the beast. I stopped taking it personally a long time ago. Plus, it’s like, how sad is your life that you get your kicks from ripping on a gossip blogger? Why on earth do you care about me anyway? I get paid to sit around and talk shit about celebrities. What’s your excuse? And then I realized that the fact that they care so much about me, and what I am or am not writing, is kind of flattering. I’m like a mini-celebrity! As Wendie said, I remember it bothering me a lot when I first started, but for the past few years it’s just been kind of hilarious.

There were many factors that helped me with my decision to leave. None of those factors can be credited to Evil Beet commenters. The mean comments were upsetting for the first month or two, but then they became very funny and irrelevant. If you write, you have to be immune to the anonymous crazies who need a wall to hurl their hate against.

I’m not got to deny that people can be very cruel on EB, but I really do believe it is the nature of the beast on a gossip blog. I LOVE gossip as much as the next person and I love EB, but I also realize that gossip tends to bring out the worst in people. There is a reason gossip is frowned upon in school, work, church, etc. I’m definitely not passing judgment on having a gossip site, I’m just saying that of all the different blogs on the net gossip sites are going to receive the most haters.

I’ve read Wendie’s personal blog and I know she was going through a really hard time emotionally when she left EB. Although I’m sure EB wasn’t the cause of her troubles, I suspect that all of the haters added to her troubles. I also think that if you are trying to find positive people and influences in your life, writing negative, though often hysterical, pieces about people will begin to weigh on your mind if your mind is in a fragile place. Obviously I don’t know this for a fact, but sometimes I can be pretty perceptive and sometimes I’m as dumb as a bag of rocks. I would be surprised if I was off on why Wendie left.

All of that said, I really do love EB. I just know I’m not thick skinned enough to take all of the personal hate that comes with the territory. I hope that Sasha, Molls, and Kelly are…best of luck, girls!
