I am STILL SICK. It is TOTALLY UNBELIEVABLE. I haven’t had a fever since LAST MONDAY, and yet somehow my body is still completely worn down. I woke up this morning feeling really good and thinking I had swine flu licked for good, and then 20 minutes later I realized just walking was an effort. UGH. I think that trip to LA kicked my ass pretty solidly. But luckily I feel well enough to get up and get out of the house for a few hours a day, which keeps me from going completely insane.
For instance, last night, I attended an event called “Brownies & Porn.” I was invited by a relatively new friend, and I didn’t know what to expect, but I wasn’t at all nervous. I mean, brownies and porn? How can you go wrong? It’s held in the theater room of her apartment complex, and basically what you do is watch really cheesy porn, make fun of it, and eat junk food. It’s like Mystery Science Theater, but with brownies. And porn. I brought a friend along, but all the rest of the people there I was meeting for the first time, and they were just an AWESOME group of people. It was both men and women, but it wasn’t at all creepy or sexual. Everyone was so freakin’ cool and easy to be around. It was just fun. I haven’t laughed that hard in a really long time. We seriously just watched terrible, terrible ’80s porn on a giant movie screen and made jokes about it. While eating brownies. And, let me tell you, there is some really awful ’80s porn in existence. I had no idea. I didn’t watch porn in the ’80s. There was this one scene filmed in some manner of office with a bed in it (with those terrible ’80s headboards!), and the computer on the desk was like what I played Reader Rabbit on. Laughing. So. Hard.
My friend hosts this event monthly, apparently. How have I never done this before? How have I never heard of it? How is this not a nationwide phenomenon? It was the best time ever. I encourage you all to host a brownies and porn event of your own.
