Another very delightful day! I spent the early afternoon with my friend Gayle, then did cardio at my apartment gym, then met my trainer to do weights, and then as I was going to head home and curl up on the couch, my neighbor Danielle called to ask if I would like to sub on her intramural dodgeball team. I was like “FUCK YES when is the game?” and she was like “30 minutes” and I was like “I am driving there right now.”
Dodgeball is AWESOME. Not only is it an incredible cardio workout, it is also exciting, competitive, exhilarating, strategic, and it utilizes a broad range of athletic skills. I had no idea! I always thought of it as kind of a joke sport, but this was no joke. It’s a very real sport. We had team T-shirts and everything, and some of the other teams were wearing pads and knee guards. People take dodgeball seriously!!! I really had the time of my life, and I would try to join a team permanently, but the games are on Thursday nights, and next Thursday night I start …. drum roll please …. BALLET CLASSES. Ha! Yes! The University of Washington’s experimental college offers an adult beginner ballet class, and I AM ENROLLED IN IT. My friend Emily is taking it with me, and we are going shopping this weekend for our leotards and ballet tights and ballet shoes, and I plan to purchase a tutu as well. I am VERY EXCITED. I am already planning my career as a professional ballerina, because did I tell you guys that someone already took my idea about starting a fresh-juice stand in Pike Place? I was walking around there today and my brilliant business idea already exists, right on the main strip. I don’t know how I missed it before. So now I have to be a ballerina. Or maybe a professional dodgeball player. I haven’t decided yet. I’ll keep you guys posted.
