“Alot” in a final draft of a paper or manuscript might indicate some big, bad things. “Alot” in an email could just mean a typo and lack of proofreading. I have to remind myself often that not everyone is as perfectionist as I am. I think I would be more concerned if he had written “lots” (for some reason in my head I don’t really understand).

I have no idea about how to practice dodgeball, but Kinko’s used to be able to do a quick turnaround (like an hour) on small orders of business cards if the artwork/text was ready to go. Have alot of fun in L.A.!!

Wow! As a high school English teacher, my philosophy is that I’d rather have my students spell “gargantuan” wrong than write “big”–but even my freshman know they will be SLAMMED if they write “alot” … Wow!
