HOLY SHIT today has been a day. It started off normal and then just went kind of insane. A lot of it I can’t really talk about on here because it’s completely about someone else’s life and it’s none of my business to talk about, but someone I care about a lot is in a really bad place emotionally and psychologically, and there’s not a whole lot I can do, because he doesn’t want help right now. He called me today, and I’m not even sure why he called me if he didn’t want me to help him, I think he just didn’t want to be alone. I went to see him, and he’s a mess, and there’s nothing I can do, and it’s entirely gut-wrenching.

But wait! It gets better! So my doctor told me I had to go get all these blood tests because apparently the medication I’m on can cause high cholesterol. I didn’t think anything of it, because my weight and my health are just fine. But I got the results back today, and apparently I fucking have diabetes. Not even kidding. My fasting glucose is 121, my cholesterol is 227, and my LDL cholesterol is 154. And I don’t even know what any of those things mean but apparently they’re very bad. Holy fucking hell. I don’t even know what to do about that shit. I’m not an irresponsible eater. I exercise regularly. I’m well within a healthy weight range. I don’t drink alcohol or coffee. And I really don’t want to go off the meds. I don’t know if any of this is reversible or anything. I emailed my doctor. It would have been nice to have heard this from him with an explanation and suggestions rather than a random email from the lab like “Congratulations! You have diabetes!” FUCK.

So then after all this insanity, Trisha’s bachelorette party was tonight. We kicked it off with a scavenger hunt around downtown Seattle, organized by her sisters. It was amazingly fun. Seriously it was such a great way for all the girls from her different circles of friends to bond and for the out-of-towners to learn the city. I can’t really explain how amazing it was without the photos, which are all on another girl’s camera. But as soon as I get them from her I will post them, along with detailed explanations. Let’s just say I kissed a bunch of bald men on the head and asked about 50 strangers if they had a condom. (I finally found one and it was a Magnum — worth extra points!) I can get a little competitive about this sort of thing regardless, and since I’d had such a hard day and needed a distraction, I got really competitive about it. I was hard-core. My team won, and while we didn’t hear the final scores, I’m guessing we won by a LOT.

After the scavenger hunt, we had dinner at a restaurant/wine bar downtown called Purple. I’d never even heard of it before this, but I can’t say enough good things about the food and the ambiance. Highly, highly recommended. I want to eat there every night. Then we met up with her husband-to-be and his bachelor party and did some bar-hopping (mostly the “hopping” happened because we got kicked out of the first bar for trying to sneak in Trisha’s underage cousin). Trisha had an amazing time and everyone had a wonderful opportunity to bond — it was the perfect bachelorette party! I was so, so grateful to be there and to be having such a fun time after the fucking awful start to the day. Pics in the gallery below — these are just the photos after the scavenger hunt. I’ll post the rest when I have ‘em! Tomorrow is the bridal shower and Saturday is the wedding. So exciting!!!
