Oh, Boy.

Well, weird. I haven’t told anyone the name of the new guy I’ve been hooking up with. I haven’t put it anywhere on the Internet. I haven’t put his photo anywhere on the Internet. I haven’t even told my friends all that much about him, and definitely not more than his first name. And already, in my Facebook inbox, I get this:

Subj: Hi Sasha…

Like gossip?

Beware of the dog(s)!!!!!!!!!

[Name redacted] does have kids around the world, blames the ladies, doesn’t care and in the end he drops everyone involved..like me ;) !!!!!!!!

I found this

www.myspace.com/[redacted]

Good luck!!!!

The MySpace link goes to the page of a woman in Germany with a young baby who is currently listed as single. No clear evidence that this baby is in any way related to the guy I’m seeing. (And the pregnant German is not the woman who emailed me.)

So: Who is this chick? How’d she even find out who I was or that I was seeing this guy? (And, for the record, our relationship is still very, very casual, and I don’t even know that I’d elevate it to “dating” just yet.) Is she really trying to be helpful and protect a fellow woman here, or is she a scorned ex trying to make his current dating situation a nightmare? HOW DID SHE EVEN FIND OUT ABOUT THIS IN THE FIRST PLACE??? Someone would have had to put together a lot of puzzle pieces from a lot of different sources of info to arrive at maybe a 75% certainty that they knew that this was the guy I was talking about. I mean, this required some effort and some digging. Am I being fairly warned by a loving woman, or am I suddenly in the middle of a bad fucking episode of Gossip Girl?

And here’s the remainder of the email thread, after I pressed her for further details and/or how she knew about me:

I was a “friend” of [guy's name redacted] and of one of the girls he got pregnant!!

I am sorry…., but since he doesn’t want to have anything to do with one of his kids and since he doesn’t want anyone to remind him of this facts he managed that I was canceled!!

It’s just that I can’t believe it!!

I know that’s it not my business anyway, but I just can’t believe it that guys are always getting thru with things like that.

I am engaged and me and my honey are trying hard to get pregnant!!!

I am heading to bed now!!!

Then she popped back in to say this:

He is a womanizer!!
Trying to date a lot of girls!!!

Always into girls!!!

The girls talk!!!

I’m supposed to see this guy tomorrow. Should I mention this and ask him what the story is? Or would that just be buying into the drama?

All just so weird. How could anyone have known so fast? I tried really really hard to keep this guy’s identity absent from the Internet.
