I know this is pretty random BUT I used to work in the elevator industry. As in, I sold the maintenance and repair of them. You wouldn't believe how many people do stupid things in elevators and then get stuck. I know you were upset at being stuck but sometimes the technician has to ask you what happened so he can diagnose what's wrong.

Also, the elevator company (IE: technicians) don't actually own the elevators unless they own the building. The owners most likely don't want to spend the money (since it's WAY expensive to fix and repair, or worse, modernize) to upgrade the elevators. The technology of the elevators changes just as quickly as computers (most newer elevators run off of microprocessors) so it's likely you are using elevators that are at least 20 years old if not older. But, aged or not, most people still refuse to upgrade until they have to.

Sorry you got stuck but try to be nice to the techs. They really do try and they get yelled at a lot. Trust me. I used to get yelled at alot too!
