I remember this sad time, and the picture through the windscreen of the rain and the rainbow. Rest in peace, little Charlie!

Hey Sasha,

I just thought you might want to share your story. Yours is a touching, moving and certainly heartbreaking one, and I'm sure other people (beyond us loyal SIAM readers) would benefit from hearing it.

WONDERFUL NEWS! I started reading your blogs right when you got Charlie, and it broke my heart to follow your situation. As you said though, Charlie had a happy life with you before he left, and he led you to Leo.

My two dogs and two cats mean everything to me, and any abuse or neglect of animals makes me insane. I'm so so so very happy to read that this store is shut down! One down, many to go...

RIP Charlie.

I wasn't here a year ago but I completely agree with everything. I have never had a pet, besides betta fish, come from a store. We've only gotten them from local shelters or from friends who had litters. Most of my cats growing up we got from this one family we were friends with. They couldn't really afford to have their animals spayed and neutered so we tried to take as many as we could when they had new litters. We also helped them to get their pets spayed and neutered when we could because their situation was a little out of control sometimes.

I have always felt like I would adopt children if I ever had them and I think part of that feeling stems from my experiences with animals. Why would I need to have a baby of my own when so many out there need a home already? I totally get wanting to have a child that came from you, but I guess that just isn't the deciding emotion for me. It's similar with pets for me. I don't really see the point in wanting a pure bred pet from a store or breeder when I go to a pound and so many animals are there waiting for a great new life that I could give them.
