You guys, I am obsessed with this photo.
Leo and I went to the Folklife Festival in Seattle today, along with my new boy-toy (he will kill me if he reads I called him that) and my friend Laura. It was a freakishly gorgeous day in Seattle. I also took this photo:
It doesn’t really even begin to capture how beautiful the day was, how brilliant the greens and blues were, stark in juxtaposition. Seattle may have shitty winters, but you really can’t beat this place on a nice summer day. We just wandered around and people-watched. It struck me how rarely I see teenagers in my day-to-day life. I’m so out of touch with teenage culture. It’s definitely gone more Harajuku than when I was younger. I don’t think the kids in the U.S. realize how cos-play their outfits are, the layers of multi-colored bracelets and the anime skirts. I’m sure I’d be dressing like that if I were 15 again, laying on the grass getting stoned in my army boots and crinolined dress. Jesus, I’m so glad I’m not a teenager anymore.
We were going to go see Mary Kay Letourneau and her husband, Vili Imtoolazytolookupthespellingofhislastname. But after a day spent out in the sun, we were wiped. So we missed Mary Kay and went to a yummy Thai dinner instead, but I’m sure I’ll get to read all about it on TMZ.
