Just so you know, I am also on a anti-anxiety med that is known for people getting addicted and I am to take it as needed...and it works wonders. I haven't felt the NEED to have this med all the time. Just when I am feeling anxiety and need to be calmed I will take it and it makes me calm and I feel relief. I also take a once daily med and it also has helped a lot. I also was prescribed a very small dose of the "as needed" med. You may have side effects at first but once you get over that hump, it will even out and you will feel great! good luck!

That's awesome you were able to connect with your psychologist and work it out... I have an amazing therapist and doctor. I'm able to work with both of them to get the best managed care.

On a side note, have you noticed a difference with your vegan diet and mental health? I went vegetarian last fall, and I'm currently vegan for lent. I've noticed a distinct difference in my mental health (I have anxiety and depression) since I've been vegan. I'm contemplating going vegan full-time (but debating that with my love of cheese!)

You're doing wonderfully. I'm happy to hear that you're getting better and taking care of yourself!

oh brooke. understand that some people just feel things that you could never image. it's okay though. you don't want to.

just because someone enjoys a book, does not mean they take it as bible. please. sasha is smarter than that.

okay so i read "skinny bitch" (after you suggested it :) )
and i'm surprised you're taking anti-anxiety medication... like, in that book, they blasted ADVIL! the simplest lil pill ever... surely anti-anxiety pills are much more complicated...
"anxiety" seems to me to be normal... like stress. why stamp a label on everything?? and i thought you said you read "a new earth" - don't you remember the part where he talks about how humans are so quick to think something is wrong with them, to label something they're feeling when it's only just... being human.
whenever people say they're "ADD" or have "anxiety disorder" or a really intense "phobia" i find it so sketch...
i think you're awesome btw, just wanted to let my opinion be known ;)

I'm so glad you're going. I hope it goes well for you. Even if it doesn't, don't give up!!! Ask for a different doc the next time.

Thanks Erin. Its mostly just paperwork and me doing some sort of screening thing (like I don't know whats wrong with me). I'm sure they will ask me questions and I will just bawl my eyes out though. It should turn into a weekly crying session if nothing else. Oh well.

I take melatonin now too and it works for me better than any of the sleep meds ever did. I occasionally take Tylenol PM as well, but the melatonin lets me wake up refreshed. I highly recommend it.

Sasha, so glad to hear you're getting some solid help. Any chance she's willing to be a doc for you via phone in the future? Like, schedule phone therapy sessions? Call in prescriptions to your local pharmacy in Seattle? Oh, wait, that might not work legally. Lol. Just thinking out loud here.

Talk to your Doc about trying Rozerem (not to sound like a commercial or anything). See if she has a sample pack, like mine did, or maybe even just a 10 day prescription. I swear it saved my life. Got me on a healthy sleeping pattern, and after I was done with the trial, I simply started taking melatonin (time release, from the Vitamin Shoppe), and I've actually been insomnia-free ever since! This is at least 1.5 yrs ago that we're talking. And I'd tried both types of Ambien, as well as Lunesta. I swear Rozerem is what finally did the trick.
