it does not matter whether or not she is a belly dancer or a stripper blame her being there on whoever hired her. she is just doing her job. but if you want to get nitty-gritty im sure she is a belly dancer(maybe a bad one) why would the owner hire a stripper? listen to yourself..if it does not make sense it PROBABLY is NOT true. As for you attitude towards strippers thats just horrible. They are people too so treat them as such. Also, this girl was not even doing anything erotic to disturb the “small child” did you see a pole? was she taking her clothes off? okay then. thats what i thought. If you didnt like your service that day you should have given a complaint to the manager/owner but NOT humiliated this girl by posting pictures of her on the internet(which im sure she wouldnt appreciate if she knew about it) and calling her a stripper in a very condescending way.

Sounds like a jealous Blogger.
1. She looks worn out.
2. Costumes are expensive. This may cheesey or beginners costume, but it may be her budget.
3. I wonder if the blogger know anything about bellydance?
4. How does the blogger know what a real stripper looks like? The nails are french wit tips.
( Mine are always really short and buffed as I'm a therapist and cannot have nails)

One thing I forgot to mention, belly dancers in the middle east will typically engage small children and focus their attention on the older men in the audience, here it is more appropriate to focus attention on the women as they tend to be possessive toward their men if you dance to/with them.

I don't know this woman who is “belly dancing” in the Indian restaurant. Typically you don't see belly dancers in Indian restaurants. They are more apt to dance in Greek, Lebanese, or other Middle Eastern type eating establishments. As a belly dancer myself there is a stigma that follows me around when I mention I dance - so I am very careful to say I am a middle eastern dancer -some people assume belly dancer to be an exotic dancer/stripper. There are rules when you are performing and from what this gentleman said, it appears that many of them were violated - like asking for money and sticking dollar bills in your belt. She is wearing an armband and that would have been more appropriate for placing dollar bills. It is unfortunate that this gentleman is calling her a stripper, an untrained belly dancer yes, but a stripper, no. BTW, many professional dancers wear wigs, hair extensions, have their nails and toes manicured and tan - when you are in the public eye your grooming has to be impecccable and you have to be pleasing to look at. No one wants to see a hot mess dancing.

Ok no offense, as a bellydancer myself, we do accept tips given that the restaurants don't pay us much to perform there. It is customary to put the money in the dancers skirt without being offensive about it if they don't throw it in the air for us which most customers don't because they are afraid that someone will take it before we can pick it up in between sets. Sorry your experience wasn't the best, she doesn't look like a professional dancer, especially if she was asking for money to take her picture and to dance for you, that is not professional at all and not what we normally do, we are there to entertain you and try to get the ladies up to dance with us and give a small lesson if they are willing, I never ever ask a customer for money, it is their choice to tip.

Don't lump her in with us real belly dancers! Many of us do take tips at restaurant jobs, but we are much more classy and family friendly than it sounds like she was. She looks quite unprofessional. She's wearing what we call and “airport special”… you know, one of those cheesy crappy costumes you might get as a tourist at the airport or something. Unfortunately, there are quite a few girls who take one belly dance class for a few weeks and think that they are pros. They give us all a bad name. We call them “six week wonders.” I'm sorry that your experience there went oh so wrong and hope that you won't lump us all together. :)

So… She probably is a real belly dancer and NOT a stripper. And well, belly dancers accept tips. It's not offensive, and as a belly dancer myself, we really do appreciate the tips. It's her job to come around and mingle with the diners, the owner has probably instructed her to do so. She may not be a GOOD belly dancer, but please don't mistake belly dancers for strippers, even if they have money in their belt.
