OMG you guys.

IT SNOWED TODAY!!!!

It’s not that I’ve never been in the snow before, but this was the first time ever that it snowed in a place where I lived. They’d been predicting snow all day, and it had snowed in a lot of the suburbs of Seattle during the day, but not in Seattle proper, where I live. I was so upset. I thought it wasn’t going to snow.

So I got all dressed up to go to my friend Katie’s Christmas party, sad because it wasn’t snowing, and I took the elevator down to the garage, got in my car, drove out of the garage and all of a sudden it was snowing!!! I was so excited. I called my mom to tell her about it. “MOM IT’S SNOWING!!!” I said over and over again. My mom grew up in Chicago. Mostly she wanted to talk to me about a shoe organizer she’d seen today that she thought she might get me as a Hanukkah gift. I was like “BUT IT’S SNOWING!” and she was like “Yes, but do you think you’d use a shoe closet?” It was such a typical mom conversation.

Also I owe Katie a public apology because I’d planned to pick up a hostess gift for her on the drive over but was so excited about the snow I completely forgot. I owe you a bottle of vino, Katie!!

Anyway, I got to Katie’s Xmas party at her new place, which is gorgeous and beautifully decorated and very very festive. And I kinda sorta bended my vegan rules to eat some of the freakin’ amazing cookies she’d baked. Trish and Jesse were there, and they’re both from Michigan, so they were cracking up at my obsession with the snow. I just wanted to stand at the window and watch it. Finally Jesse read my mind and was like “Do you want to go outside and take pictures in it?” and I was like “I THOUGHT YOU’D NEVER ASK!!!” So Jesse, Trish and I piled outside and did a photo shoot in the first snow. I was so happy. Everything was white! The cars and the trees and the dirt! It was amazing!

I left the party pretty early, because I’m running a 5K tomorrow and need my beauty rest, and I got home and realized that the animals needed to see snow, too. I couldn’t figure out a way of getting the cats outside without the risk of them running away forever, so they each took turns looking out the window while I explained snow to them. They were apathetic at best. Then I took Leo up to the building’s deck to show him the snow. It had never occurred to me that the deck would have a layer of snow on it!!! I was beyond delighted, as was Leo. I couldn’t really even get him to hold still for a good photo. He was just running around like crazy playing in the snow. I did get this fabulous picture of him urinating in the snow:

Anyway. I just couldn’t be happier. I got to wear my new dress and spend time with great friends and IT SNOWED. And THERE ARE PICTURES!!! That’s pretty much all it takes to make me happy. It was a fantastic night that I’ll never forget.

And tomorrow I get to run a 5K … in the snow!!

HOLY SHIT!!!

Wish me luck!!
